If you are considering using any form of solid fuel appliance in your home, then you need to talk to us! However, here is a list of our key service areas:

Installation

We can install and commission any solid fuel appliance in your home – be that the construction of a new open fire, the installation of a wood burning or multi-fuel stove.

Our fitters are HETAS approved giving you the assurance that your appliance is commissioned and certified by a competent installer who has undergone and successfully passed an approved HETAS training course. In England and Wales most installations of solid fuel, wood and biomass appliances and systems are subject to the requirements of Building Regulations. These regulations are a must and need to be notified to the relevant Local Authority Building Control department by law. HETAS registered installers can self certificate their work thus avoiding the need for costly and time consuming Building Notice applications to the local Building Control department.

We provide the customer with a certificate of compliance upon competition of the installation and send a copy to HETAS for onward notification to the local authority. The certificate of compliance issued is an important record demonstrating that the work was carried out legally and in accordance with the relevant Building Regulations and by a trained and competent installer of a registered business. When consumers sell their property, the information about work carried out under Building Regulations is required and used by solicitors on their enquiry forms. Failure to demonstrate compliant work and proof of regular maintenance can adversely affect the sale of the property and render your house insurance invalid

Commissioning

We thoroughly test every installation we carry out prior to issuing a Hetas Certificate of Compliance. This includes the installation of an approved carbon monoxide alarm.

We also spend the time to give you a full run down of the safe operation of your appliance and advise on everyday matters such as fuel choice, maintenance, servicing intervals, etc.

Servicing

It is necessary for insurance purposes that all solid fuel appliances are serviced on an annual basis by a competent individual.

All our stove installations are done with the customer knowing parts and servicing are just a call or email away.

Due to the thousands of stove types out there we do not service stoves fitted by others

We have now introduced a "liner care service" comprising of “power sweeping” to BS:6461 and the internal CCTV inspection of multi- fuel liners.

Existing system and health check prices

Call outs to existing systems not installed by us are charged £50 payable at the time of visit

Building Work

No chimney? No problem! Ovenstones can build a complete fireplace; flue and the required chimney stack even if you have nothing at all! Our team of experienced builders have a wealth of experience in general building work in brick and stone, meaning we can match existing architecture and period features.

Have you recently moved into a house with an existing stove ?

On a daily basis we find non compliant /dangerous installations, and without proper investigation you may have a"ticking time bomb" for peace of mind why not contact us for a system safety check a (£50.00) payable at the time please note we cannot issue a certificate of compliance on an existing installation, this must be done though your local authority or the entire system decommissioned assessed and recommissioned.

Do you rent out a holiday home with a stove? are you a Landlord?

As with Gas installations Landlords are legally obliged to show proof the installation of a solid fuel appliance is to building regulations and is serviced annually with a certificate issued each time. We can work around letting times to suit your needs and send out reminders near the time.
